Rwanda Abakundakawa I natural I Bio
This organic certified, natural bourbon comes from the Abakundakawa Washing Station. Abakundakawa, which translates as "those who love coffee", is a cooperative founded in 1999. About 20 years ago, Abakundakawa initiated the women's group Hingkawa ("grow coffee"), which now has 584 women. The aim of this group is to promote equality and fight poverty. Farmers who belong to the Abakundakawa cooperative pick ripe cherries on the volcanic slopes of Rwanda's mountainous Gakenke District. The microclimate in this area, the altitude and the fertile volcanic clay soil, contribute to the balanced sweetness and the floral, fruity note of the coffees.
