What you need:

• French Press
• coffee grinder
• Water
• Coffee beans we recommend from Africa (e.g. from Rwanda or Ethiopia )

Step 1: Grind your coffee beans

Take your fresh coffee beans from Coffee Pirates and grind them coarsely in your coffee grinder. Remember that a coarse grind is ideal for cold brew to avoid over-extraction.

Step 2: Mix coffee and water

in the French Press Take your French Press and add the ground coffee powder. Use about 60-70 g of coffee per 250 ml of water. Then pour cold water over the coffee powder and stir well to ensure that all layers of coffee are wetted.

Step 3: The Inverse Method

Put the lid on the French press, press the plunger down lightly and let it brew at room temperature for 12-24 hours. You can adjust the brewing time to suit your preferences - the longer the brew, the more intense the flavor will be.

Step 4: Separate the coffee grounds

After the brewing time, slowly push the plunger down to separate the coffee grounds from the liquid. The coffee grounds should settle at the bottom of the French press.

If you prefer a lighter taste, you can also dilute the cold brew with water. Experiment a little until you find the perfect mix for you.
