Important information about the current situation in logistics!
When it comes to the procurement of green coffee, we have seen very low capacities for loading space and empty containers in Asia all year round. This means that there will continue to be extreme delays and a very high increase in shipping costs . This problem is now also developing in Central and South America, so we must expect increasing delays and rising sea freight costs here too in the coming year. According to current assessments, the situation in the sea freight sector is not expected to ease before the summer of 2022. On the delivery side, there is a shortage of drivers, which at the same time also leads to a shortage of loading space and rising personnel costs for freight forwarders.
Rising fuel costs are another driver of transport costs . In addition, there are still long delays in the procurement of pallets and the warehouse is more dependent than ever on exchanging pallets when they are picked up independently at the warehouse .
For 2022, we currently expect freight costs to be 10 - 12% higher for national transport and 15% higher for European transport.
With regard to warehousing, we also expect rising costs in the coming year , mainly caused by sharply rising energy costs.
