Cascara – new “coffee drink” approved

A caffeinated drink with a full-bodied, fruity taste

Coffee cherry tea has been made from the dried pulp of the coffee cherry for centuries. Coffee farmers have always drunk this “by-product” of coffee as tea.

In recent years, coffee cherry tea has become more and more of a “trendy drink” in Germany. In contrast, it has been very popular in the USA for decades.
How come? The Indian tribes' tradition of enjoyment has been preserved over the centuries in the USA. Now it has arrived here too.

The caffeine content of coffee cherry tea is usually higher than that of coffee and even higher than that of many energy drinks, as the caffeine is mainly found in the skin of the coffee cherry. This means that it provides natural energy without sugar or other additives.

Coffee cherry tea contains natural antioxidants. The coffee cherries are deliciously sweet and aromatic.
The tea has a delicate note of pear, rosehip, cherry, with a gentle sweetness.

Preparation:
Pour boiling water over coffee cherry tea and let it steep for 5-10 minutes (depending on preference). This allows the flavor and desired substances such as caffeine and antioxidants to develop. It can be enjoyed hot or cold. Cold with ice cubes for an energizing refreshment, hot with ginger, cinnamon or cardamom. Also suitable for the French press.
