This coffee is from the Federación de Sociedades Cooperativas Cafetaleras de la Sierra Madre (FEDESI), which was founded in 2016 by six small coffee groups. They formed a cooperative to gain better access to new production markets, financing and government support. The more than 3,000 farmers who are members of the FEDESI cooperative produce around 30,000 bags of Fairtrade and organic certified coffee a year and have now developed a renovation program for their farms, set up a nursery for young plants and offer training on leaf rust treatments.
