This pseudo-Goethe quote, popular among wine sellers, was apparently only attributed to Johann Wolfgang Goethe in the 21st century, and cannot be found in any form either in his digitized works or in serious reference works.
Without being attributed to Goethe, the quote has been known in German since the 1950s and was used, for example, as a motto at a wine tasting in Baden-Württemberg in 1969 (link).
In English, the bon mot in the variant: "Life Is Too Short To Drink Cheap Beer!" can be traced back to 1880 (link) .
